People
The Center for Humanities and the Public Sphere draws on a rich tradition of research and teaching at the University of Florida. Building on distinguished work of individual departments and centers, the Center for Humanities and the Public Sphere emphasizes collaboration and an integrative model. To enable this collaboration the Center is pursuing two interrelated programs. First, to provide an intellectual space and a physical location within the University and College for critical and collaborative discussions of the humanities that reach across and beyond specializations, and second, to provide a place for outreach to the community in which we live and teach. This mission draws on a distinguished and diverse faculty and student body.

Arts & Humanities Working Group - UF Faculty Senate
The Arts & Humanities
Working Group is a sub-committee of the University of Florida Faculty Senate.
The charge of this committee is to "tell
our story" to the administration, and perhaps national peers (discipline
by discipline). The charge involves clarifying the culture of the arts
and humanities, benchmarking, and peer assessment; objectives include generating
a list of awards and grants, comparable to major science grants, applicable
to the humanities
A brief description of the Working Group and its membership can be found
at the Faculty Senate website, as well as a Preliminary
Report of the Arts & Humanities
Working Group (April 2006).
