Graduate fellowships are forms of aid that help students pay for their educations. Unlike loans, they do not have to be repaid. Scholarship criteria vary. Generally, scholarships and fellowships are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. Awards are also available for students who are interested in particular fields of study, who live in certain areas of the country or who demonstrate financial need.
These endowed graduate scholarships and fellowships are available to students in different colleges, departments, and units of the campus. The available opportunities can be browsed here: http://www.uff.ufl.edu/Scholarships/, with further directions about application procedures detailed under each opportunity.
The specific UF Foundation graduate fellowships available to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are also described here: http://www.clas.ufl.edu/scholarships/clas.html
Exemplified by world-class scholarship and instruction, endowed professorships and chairs are among the most significant awards conferred to faculty. Income from these funds provides salary, research support and resources for program development that enable educators to pursue projects at the forefront of their fields. Because they foster exceptional opportunities for teaching and research, endowed positions are fundamental to the University of Florida’s mission.
Although endowed professorships and chairs are generally not awarded on an application basis, the full list of available opportunities in different colleges and units of campus can be browsed here: http://www.uff.ufl.edu/FacultyEndowments/
The UF Distinguished Alumni Professorship is awarded by the UF Alumni Association to recognize outstanding teachers and scholars across the university. The selection committee includes current faculty, alumni and community representatives who have some connection to the University of Florida.
