This fund was established by the Office of Research in 1997 to stimulate new or existing creative/research activity in the humanities and fine arts at the University of Florida. Approximately 18-20 awards are supported annually. The maximum award request is $12,000, with the average award expected to be less. Eligible applicants are UF ranked faculty working on projects in the humanities or fine arts. The humanities awards process is handled by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The fine arts competition is managed by the College of Fine Arts. Faculty should submit applications to their Department Chair, and thus should contact their department for internal deadlines. The deadline for Department Chairs to submit proposals is in October of each year.

These one-time awards are limited to $300 per trip and require a dollar for dollar match from the college and/or department.
Applications must be made at least one month prior to the travel.

The Research Opportunity Seed Fund targets interdisciplinary, faculty-initiated research projects with potential for extramural support. The program focuses on new projects and/or new collaborative partnerships.Projects should be innovative, have strong potential for garnering future funding from external sources, OR have outstanding commercial potential. Research Opportunity Seed Fund awards are not intended to support on-going projects - they should support new projects (not a supplement to current research) and/or new collaborative partnerships. The proposal must emphasize novel research. To be competitive, proposals must be multi-/interdisciplinary and must involve faculty from at least two departments/units/colleges.
